Explore new opportunities at the Norway-Asia Business Summit 2019

Set your sails to Shanghai to attend the upcoming Norway-Asia Business Summit, taking place 31 October to 2 November.

“The strong ties between Norway and Singapore have been forged largely due to our shared history within the maritime and offshore sectors. These ties are now reaffirmed not only through the maritime industry but also new areas of business, such as digital services, renewable energy, fintech and other start-up businesses.

The Norway-Asia Business Summit in Shanghai this year is a huge showcase on how far Norwegian technology has come in many of these sectors and is a fantastic opportunity to see its potential in a broad Asian context. The Summit allows you to both be inspired by well-known speakers and industry experts, and also to meet with Asian and Norwegian executives from various fields, and to explore new opportunities for collaboration”, says Erik Borgen, Chairman of Singapore-Norway Chamber of Commerce.

The Ocean – energizing and feeding the world

The 2019 Summit in Shanghai will bring together frontier companies in both energy and ocean-based industries for a valuable encounter in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

The energy and ocean-based industries will be vital in meeting many of today’s global challenges. By 2050, the world population is expected to surpass 9 billion. A rapidly growing population means an increased demand for food, energy, transport, and minerals. At the same time, the oceans are already under significant pressure as a result of climate change, overfishing, and pollution.

Oceantech is the overall theme for this year’s Summit, which is held in the context of important initiatives to strengthen collaboration between Norway and Asia. Norway has free trade agreements with South Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and is currently negotiating agreements with China, India, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Business leaders from both Norway and Asia will present what they do in these areas and discuss how collaboration can accelerate the energy transition and contribute to a healthier ocean environment.

The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry HE Torbjørn Røe Isaksen and the Vice Minister of Petroleum and Energy HE Rikard Gaarder Knutsen have confirmed participation, as well as prominent business leaders, such as Morten Fon from Jotun, Geir Håøy from Kongsberg and Harald Solberg from the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association.
